  • The USCG Master License allows the holder to act as Captain aboard Inspected passenger vessels up to the rated tonnage of their license, and up to the certified number of passengers.

    Students will qualify for either 25, 50, or 100 GRT based upon accumulated sea time on qualifying vessels. The Master License also includes the ability to act as Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV).

    Registration includes the USCG Exam given in class, all materials, and training charts. Students may bring their own plotting tools, purchase new here at the school, or use our loaner tools for the course.

    This course meets Mon-Fri for two weeks, 8am-5pm.

  • The OUPV License (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels) is commonly referred to as a "6-Pack" License. That's because with this license you are limited to carrying no more than six passengers for hire on uninspected vessels of not more than 100 gross tons and 65 feet in length.

    Registration includes the USCG Exam given in class, all materials, and training charts. Students may bring their own plotting tools, purchase new here at the school, or use our loaner tools for the course.

    This class presents a lot of information in a short amount of time, and is a good choice for those looking for a fast-paced learning environment.



  • All (blank) forms required including instructions to apply for either Captain's License.

  • Up to 3 hours consulting time with staff while completing your application forms plus final review and submission of package to the Coast Guard NMC.

  • New plotting tools for use in the course. Recommended if your tools are not in perfect shape. Tools will be on your desk when you start the course.


This course is designed for mariners who already possess an OUPV license, or who have taken the OUPV class and would like to upgrade to a Master Mariner license before submitting their application to the USCG.
This is an in-person class. Class is from 8:00AM - 5:00PM for 3 consecutive days

  • The Assistance Towing Endorsement is required for either OUPV or Master Mariners looking to operate commercial assistance tow boats.
    This is an in-person class. Class is from 1:00-5:00PM

  • The Auxiliary Sail endorsement is required for Master Mariners looking to operate inspected sailing vessels carrying passengers for hire. To qualify for the Sailing Endorsement you must also have a minimum of 180 days aboard a Auxiliary Sailing Vessel.

Registration Information



This class satisfies the educational requirements of the USCG Captain's License and includes the exam, given during class. To obtain a USCG Captain's License I understand that I must also submit additional application materials to the USCG for review within one year of completion of this class, including documentation of at least 360 DAYS of sea time (days onboard a moving boat). Successful completion of this class does not guarantee issuance of a USCG Captain's License.
